LSTN

About

Built by Someone Who Knows This Industry From the Inside

LSTN is a free collection of hearing health tools for people who are starting to notice they might have a problem with their hearing — and want to understand what's happening before they sit in a waiting room.

The Problem

The Gap Nobody Was Filling

Every tool in the audiology industry is designed to move people toward a clinical appointment or a hearing aid sale. That is not a criticism. It is just how the industry works. But it leaves out a huge group of people: those who are starting to notice something is off, who have questions they can't easily get answered, and who are not ready to commit to a $200 appointment or a $3,000 hearing aid recommendation.

The same questions kept coming up online, over and over. What do the numbers on my audiogram mean? Is this actually bad? Do I really need hearing aids? What decibel level causes damage? Why can I hear fine at home but not in restaurants? Good answers were scattered, inconsistent, or buried behind content designed to sell something.

Those questions deserved direct, honest answers. That's what LSTN is: free tools and plain-English information with no interest in steering you toward any particular product or clinic.

The Founder

Dan McCoy

Dan spent seven years on the supply side of hearing care: GN ReSound on the manufacturer side, then managing hearing clinics across Florida, Maryland, Arizona, Texas, and California.

That position teaches you how the industry actually works. The whole system — manufacturers, clinics, insurance — is structured to move people efficiently from “I think something might be wrong” to a clinical appointment and a hearing aid recommendation. That's not a criticism. It's just the economics.

What that system doesn't serve well is the person who isn't ready for that path yet. The one who has been noticing something for a year but isn't ready to commit to a $200 appointment to confirm it. The one who walked out of a clinic with an audiogram and never really understood what the numbers meant. LSTN is built for that person. No manufacturer affiliation. No clinic partnership. No financial interest in what you decide.
